About Relate North Kent's Services
Relate North Kent is an independent charity providing a range of counselling services for the communities of North Kent. This means that nearly 750,000 people live within the region where we deliver services.
Our main service is relationship counselling and we provide this service from locations operated in Dartford, Chatham and Sittingbourne. In addition to relationship counselling, Relate North Kent also provides psychosexual therapy, in our Dartford Centre and Young Person Counselling in both Sittingbourne and Chatham.
We operate a central appointment system, currently based in Chatham. Our services may be accessed by calling the Appointment Team in Chatham on 01634 846914. The Appointment Team will listen to your needs, explain how our services operate, take a little information from you before discussing any appointment opportunities that may be available during your call.
We aim to provide the initial appointment with a Relate Counsellor within 2 weeks of receiving your initial call. The first appointment is a one-off session, lasts up to an hour, and is an opportunity to discuss your concerns, problems or difficulties with an experienced Relate Counsellor. This may be the first opportunity for you to discuss your concerns in a non-judgemental and confidential environment. At the end of the session the Counsellor will indicate whether they believe that Relate may be able to help you to work through your issues and explain how to request regular counselling sessions, if you decide to take that step. If your needs would be better addressed elsewhere then the Counsellor may suggest alternatives that you may wish to consider.
If you request regular counselling sessions, the Appointment Team will contact you to offer the first of a regular series of appointments as soon as they become available. These appointments, lasting up to an hour, will be on days and at times that you have indicated that you can commit to attending each week. In these sessions you begin to focus on the issues that concern you, working through them until you reach your goals.
